This guide will show you how to leverage LinkedIn to improve your outreach and attract new clients.
1. Build a Compelling Company Page:
Create a Page: This is your storefront on LinkedIn. Make sure to have one! Go slow. Complete every available section that LinkedIn provides. A best practice is to look at companies that work similarly to you for ideas on what you want to communicate.
Optimize your personal page: Update your personal page to reflect who you are and what you do. Check out this checklist for best practices.
Summarize Your Services: Briefly explain what you offer and how you help customers. You can use an AI tool to summarize your website for inspiration but customize it for clarity. Compare your services to those of others in your industry. Let customers know what makes you unique.
Invite Followers: LinkedIn lets you invite 250 people monthly to follow your page. Use them strategically! Focus on inviting people you see as potential customers. Once people follow your page, develop a strategy for creating content that will add value to them and move them forward in the customer funnel.
2. Expand Your Network:
Connect with Existing Contacts: Start with current and past clients, colleagues, and classmates. The more connections, the better!
Target Ideal Clients: Research potential clients. See what groups they participate in and who they are connected to. If possible, join the groups they are in.
Warm Introductions are Key: Don't send cold messages. Ask your connections for introductions to specific people you have researched. You can also tell your connections about the type of person you want to work with and ask if they know someone who might benefit from your services.
3. Raise Awareness:
Goal: Get Noticed: People need to know you exist and what you do. Develop a posting schedule that demonstrates your expertise and how you help customers. Establishing a routine is vital. Identify 3 types of posts, and be consistent with your content development. Establish goals around the number of comments, reshares, and DMs you do each time you are online. The more you engage with people, the more they will engage with you.
Encourage the next step: Use your LinkedIn to drive future action. Post content that leads people to engage with you. Start conversations that end with you scheduling a call, visiting your website, attending a webinar, or some other action that allows them to learn more about you and your business. Engaging with people on LinkedIn is the first step in the customer journey.
Identify Potential Clients: Look at who interacts with your page and posts. These are people who might be interested in your services. Message them directly, connect with them, and invite them to follow your page. Before someone purchases from you, they need to trust you. Build trust through engagement.
4. Engage and Be Seen:
Actively Participate: Don't just post – engage with others! Spend 20-30 minutes a few times a week commenting, messaging, and resharing relevant content.
Respond to Comments: The more engagement you have on a post, the more impressions it has. The more impressions, the more awareness and mindshare you gain. Make sure to like and comment on any comments made to your post.
Balance is Key: Interact with potential clients and heavy LinkedIn users. Ninety percent of people do not leave comments or reshare posts regularly. You need to connect and engage with heavy users if you want more engagement. As you engage with their content, they will engage with yours.
Bonus Tip:
Consider Premium LinkedIn services: While not necessary, spending $100 a month on LinkedIn Sales Navigator will give you more visibility to who is checking out your profile. Reaching out and connecting with people who view your profile can help you accelerate your connection growth.
By following these steps and consistently putting in the effort, you'll be well on your way to using LinkedIn to grow your business. If you have questions about this approach, message me.
